Cigna donates $25 million for COVID-19 relief

Brave of Heart: Honoring the Legacy of Healthcare Heroes

Today, the New York Life Foundation and the Cigna Foundation are jointly launching the Brave of Heart Fund at E4E Relief, an independent public charity, to provide charitable grants to financially support the families of healthcare workers who lose their lives in the fight against COVID-19. Each of our foundations has agreed to seed the charitable Fund with an initial $25 million contribution.

While most of us have sought shelter from the COVID-19 crisis, doctors, nurses, technicians, orderlies, cafeteria workers, custodians, volunteers, and many others have put themselves in harm’s way to help those who desperately need it. Too many of these frontline healthcare workers will tragically lose their lives in the COVID-19 fight, and when that happens, we believe it is our duty to help their families just as they helped ours.

Through The Brave of Heart Fund, the family of eligible healthcare workers will be eligible to receive up to $75,000 to help with housing, food, transportation, education, and other living expenses as they begin to move forward. Cigna will also offer grant recipients free emotional and behavioral health support to help families cope with feelings associated with grief, including anxiety, loneliness, and depression.

The Cigna Foundation and the New York Life Foundation have already seeded the charitable Fund with $25 million each for an initial joint commitment of $50 million. The New York Life Foundation will also provide a dollar-for-dollar match on the first $25 million of individual donations received, and Cigna will provide behavioral health services to aid families. If you would like to join us in thanking our selfless healthcare workers, you may donate to the Fund by visiting www.braveofheartfund.com.

We are reaching out to you because we are passionate about this Fund and want you to be aware of the effort.
